state fair 2012.

round one: date night.
this year was the first year we've gone to the state fair without kids, since having kids. It was a totally different experience. It was NICE to say the least! We were able to stroll around, take our time, eat yummy stuff, go on some rides and check out the exhibits. We met up with our new friends Blake and Amanda. It was their first time at the fair so we showed them around and gave them some recommendations. We had a great time! As you can see, I didn't take many pictures. We were too busy having a fun date.

have you ever tried the pot roast sundae? it's so freakin' good! of course I forgot to take a picture of it, but it's pretty much amazing.
and my favorite, cheese curds. can't get enough of them.

round two: kids included.
we weren't planning on taking the kids to the fair this year, but I scored two extra tickets and I knew Ethnie would love to visit the horses. Matt really wanted a day to relax so we let him lounge. So I took them. By myself. I didn't get nervous about it until we strolled up to the gate. Then I realized I was responsible for two little lives and I got anxious. I decided to keep things simple and stay in one area of the fair.
First stop, horse barn.

Then we hung out in the DNR park. I met up with my awesome friend Kristy. We chatted for a bit and watched the fish in the pond. The kids enjoyed that.

brave lady with the bald eagle. and holding it with one arm!
we love nature!
cheers to the great MN get-together! I'll miss you like I always do!
